Karen Coplan is the Director of Leadership Acceleration© for HarborCrest International. She has over 17 years of corporate and consulting experience working across a variety of industries including industrial/manufacturing, food and beverage, telecommunications, technology, utilities, financial services, education, healthcare, and private equity. She has led multiple global talent management projects, has completed an expatriate assignment in Spain and is fluent in Spanish. These experiences enable Karen to be particularly effective consulting with leaders who are working in global or multi-cultural environments.
Dr. Coplan is also the Principal of Coplan Consulting, a talent management consulting firm (www.coplanconsulting.org). Karen is experienced in coaching leaders from the United States, Europe, and Latin America who range from the C-Suite to high potential managers. She has expertise across the spectrum of talent management, including coaching, assessment, feedback, competency modeling, training, succession planning, and leadership development. Dr. Coplan has also served as an external consultant to Korn/Ferry International for over ten years, where she has assessed and provided feedback to well over one hundred senior level executives for both selection and internal development purposes. Previously, at Motorola she led large scale projects, both domestic and international, within the areas of corporate succession planning, high potential leadership development, expatriate selection and repatriation, and training. Dr. Coplan also serves as an occasional lecturer in the Effective Leadership series at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business MBA program.
Dr. Coplan graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish and Psychology, Summa Cum Laude and Phil Beta Kappa, from the University of Texas. She received her Master’s and Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Houston. She is certified in a number of assessment tools including the Hogan Leadership Suite, the Center for Creative Leadership’s 360 tools, and several Korn/Ferry assessments including 360 degree feedback, learning agility, and leadership potential.
